LC MEETING 22nd JULY 2016

Hey AIESEC,

So, did you all notice how low in morale that greeting was, that was how low I felt for the first half of the meeting. I mean common!! Where are the fun-guys? I mean it was fun seeing four foreign faces with high expectations on their stay with AIESEC lagos which I trust Gbemi (VP IGCDP) to deliver on. It was also equally soporific, the overall soppy atmosphere I encountered upon arriving, but then again they say it is always darkest before the dawn. I’m hopeful AIESEC’s dawn is on its way. Ugochukwu bossman is on his way to Polish (bad joke?) our way to the light I’m sure.

Jalalah chaired the opening of the meeting. We got to meet the interns, and I must say I am impressed with IGCDP’s work. It’s very determined. I must also say, in spite of all they seemed of high spirits, and I was interested to hear their reasons for choosing Nigeria as their host country. Very interesting choices among all, some came for BABES, some because of our easy accessibility, some because of English, some to retrace their heritage and one very genuine desire to share what he knows on “art, design and technology”. Let them know we are keeping watch. Oops, silly me. I forgot their names. They are: Sami, Abraham, Andre and Arti( forgive me if the spelling isn’t correct)

Gbemi headed a session on finance management which was really relevant to the current Nigerian Economic situation. At the same time, I still did the same thing I do for every money talk, I zoned out (I’m sorry Gbemi). It looked like it was educative and god enough as everyone else was nodding their heads and taking notes and asking a whole lot of questions. I just wasn’t feeling it. Btw, we need a major dedicated buddy\translator four our interns as they looked lost on the whole information passing. “We are to be entrepreneurs, we should think outside the box, be creative” Gbemisola Takuro (2016).

Also, a lot was being said for how to sell exchange and create lifetime experiences for ourselves. I believe most of this was covered in our whatsApp group. We all know the most important message of all, be convicted in your belief for AIESEC and make sure you share this World’s best kept secret with somebody.

Have a nice week everybody
