LC MEETING 8th July 2016
Heeeey AIESEC!!!!!! HOW ARE WE FEELING????!!!!! Great i guess. So here we are and its a new semester, AIESEC iMAC wishes u all a great, success-filled and strike free semester. In as much as we excel in our duties as AIESECers we should also strive to excel in our academics. That's why we strive for EXCELLENCE!.
Okay so down to the meeting. It was officially the first meeting of the semester (forget the MLM meeting). The meeting started with Ola, making us switch and talk, to find out stuffs about a person, in ibiere words "dirty little secrets" Ugo gave us a brief overview of what AIESEC is about, our passion for AIESEC at the levels and categories.
From: 1:
Team Member program
2: Team Leader program
3: Global Community program
4: Global Internship program
We build a
long range of connections, from the fundamental scratch which is engagement
with AIESEC, experiential leadership development and life long connection. We
have an inner and outer journey experience, global mind-set and interaction with
people of other nationalities in his words "stepping out of our comfort
zone"
Conferences
and exchange play an important role in our development in AIESEC, which will
have an impressive impact on our individual growth and mindset.
Ola came up
with a game, group action, really immersive stuff anyways we were to come up
with the name of a country and then write out the pros and cons of being in the
country, (p.s we didn't know we were going to sell exchange). We were divided into three groups and
the games began, after 30 minutes, the groups gave presentations . Group 1 named
their country Pitua, and their motto was ( love structure and order) group 2 named theirs
Cosville (flourishing in excellence) which sounds so much like a name in power
puff girls, group 3 Pecksonia (peck or die). So each group had to sell
exchange, Pecksonia was an expensive country 1 dollar- 775 pecks (their
currency)
So Cosville
won, even though Pecksonia had blood diamonds and the fighting in the regions were
due to excessive wealth. And Pitua ( my group even though there was free
tourism from the age 20, lost). Anyways the first prize was sneakers i.e
chocolate. Ultimate dejection to the other teams.
Gbemi
takuro, spoke about the intern currently in Nigeria and the need for us to show him love and take
him out often. So we got to meet Pascal Kormeth Ndakoh, he's a mathematician, a
graduate and he's interested in maths, swimming and music. He's excited to be
in Nigeria and he likes the buzz except
for our love for pepper and according to him learning fashion at ikeja (opebi) is
been fun.
Eniola VP
OGCDP was very concerned about the number of persons we got for the summer
exchange which was just 2. She felt it would better if we all put in collective
effort into selling exchange for winter period (Nov/ Dec). We in AIESEC Lagos have to step up on our selling
skills and reach out of our comfort zone "Unilag" to other markets.
So F.C.E Yaba, French village Badagry, Alliance Français at Ikeja &
Alagomeji, Confucius Institute, #projectepp. Goal 250 people.
On a much
sadder note Ugo is travelling to Poland (AIESEC stuffs)and Ola (VP TM) is going to be
in charge, best intentions in mind for us though, he's going to create a
platform for us to go on exchange and have interns from there.
That's all from the meeting for last week. I hope i have been able to paint a clear picture for those of us that were not around (i don't even know why we should miss LC meetings). Well that is that for that.
I must say this guys, our commitment and involvement as AIESECers towards our LC is reducing as the days pass by. Remember that we are the ones that make AIESEC Lagos what it is and how the LC would look like in years to come depends on what we do now. Its not easy but remember that every great accomplishment starts with a decision to try. This is my quote for the week.
One last thing, make sure to watch this space guys. Something is coming at you this Wednesday and as usual its iMAC again!.
yours truly,
Tolu.
