1st Meeting of the Semester . 1st July 2016

Hey AIESEC!!! How are we feeling??!!
The semester just started and we super psyched to kick off AIESEC meetings again. We've changed the outlook of the blog so don't forget to check that out.
The first meeting of the semester held on the 1st of July. It wasn't a general meeting but an MLM
/TL training to help the new MLM's and TL's better understand how to manage their roles so the attendance expected wasn't as much.

The meeting was divided into two sessions. One was taken by Ugo Modum and the other by Olaolu Bankole.
Ugo started the meeting by explaining the meaning of the MLM role and by pointing out that the MLM is responsible for creating opportunities for development of all team members and for delivering good team experiences.

1st Session:
STANDARDS FOR TEAM EXPERIENCES
These refer to the steps taken to ensure deliverance of team experience.
They are:

1. Team
The team consists of people with a vision, purpose, direction and destination. To ensure that this is possible the following should be done
a. Create an end goal that enables the members envision the destination
b. Have a team culture.
c. Team name.
d. Team building.

2. Plan
A plan refers to goals that have been set. To accurately measure impact or delivery it is best to set your goal in numbers.
This may be viewed under – GTCM
G- Goals- set out tasks that you wish to accomplish
T- Set out your target
C- Channel- Determine by what means you’ll reach your target
M- Message- determine the message that will be passed through the channel.

3. Job description-
A description in detail of what needs to be done must be made for all the members to ensure they are carried along.
Every member should have a unique job description

4. Functional Training
This involves teaching the members how to achieve their job descriptions. Both AIESEC and non- AIESEC training should be carried out for members.

5. Evaluation & Tracking
The leaders are responsible for the growth of their members and as such, evaluation is a necessity.

2nd Session
MEMBER ENGAGEMENT AND PRODUCTIVITY
Engagement involves the value that the members gain from doing tasks. The Maslow triangle of needs was examined and Ola explained how AIESEC focuses on providing for the needs of members from the social need and upwards. It was decided that membership engagement is important in improving progress.

Don't forget to attend the first general meeting on the 8th of July.
