AIESEC LAGOS MEETING JULY 15TH-MLM’s TAKEOVER

Hey AIESEC!!

July 15^th was a special day for the LC. Why? Because it was the day the Middle Level Managers took over the meeting!!

We had two chairs for the day, Jalalah and Emmanuel so of course the meeting was going to be awesome. Jalalah opened the meeting but unfortunately everyone was so dull. Responses on ‘How was your week?’ ranged from okay to dull. So we knew we had to step it up!

To do this, we had our awesome ice breaker, ‘What’s missing?’ The idea was to break into groups, observe each other’s groups and then after a period two groups turn away from the third in order for the third group to change something in its appearance. After that, the groups turn back and guess what’s missing! This is how we learned that AIESECers in AIESEC Lagos are absolutely ridiculous. The things people chose ranged from ear hooks to hair bands and wrist bands. How are we supposed to see those? FYI no one guessed what was missing.

After the ice breaker, Emmanuel took the sessions on recruitment. He started by pointing out that recruitment was coming up and we would need to learn how to sell exchange to get people interested in AIESEC. To emphasize his point he picked two people and named one the AIESECer and the other, the non-AIESECer. His first picks were Jide and Bolatito. Bolatito tried to sell AIESEC to Jide like she would to someone she just met. Jide tried to be as difficult as possible. The point of this was to illustrate what to do when you encounter someone who seems set on not joining. His second picks were Chinedu and our awesome exchange participant Pascal. Pascal was asked to sell AIESEC to Chinedu.

The following are the pointers that we can adopt when trying to sell AIESEC to anyone:

-Ask the person does

- Try to connect what that person does to AIESEC

- What is AIESEC?

- What are AIESEC products?

- What can exchange add to you?

- BE PERSISTENT.

- Ask for a number or an email to follow up.
