LC MEETING FOR JUNE 4TH
HEY AIESEC!!
How are we feeling?? Great and popping I hope?.
So its
9pm Sunday evening in the beautiful city of Lagos and here i am once again
creating the weekly blog post, but this time with a lot of fulfillment in my
heart. For the first time in a while I feel like I can see the effect of my
efforts. Calm down, calm down I know you are wondering what I am on about, but
if you were at the last LC meeting you are a part of the reason for this joy. So after
the eyesore of an ‘LM’ that happened last week, I came here and made a rally
call to you the comrades of AIESEC LAGOS and you guys answered and showed me the
stuff y’all are made of. The turn out for the last LC meeting was amazing to
say the least.
Great stuff people. AIESEC LAGOS
EHHHH!!!.
Lets make it even better next week.
Lets make it even better next week.
Now down to the business for today….
HOW DID THE MEETING GO?
Meeting started at about a few minutes past the hour of 3
with Ibrahim and Samuel handling the meeting for this week. They started off with the
normal ritual: tell us your name, Functional Area and what you did for AIESEC in
the last week. Yeah yeah we are used to all that by now.
After that then
came our first FACI of the day: Bolaji Ogunaike and he took us on a session of
financial knowledge.
1st FACI Ogunaike Omobolaji |
It was a really enlightening session as we learnt how to
make good financial decisions even with the little income we make, the benefits
of saving and investments and steps we could take to become financially stable
even as youths. All in all kudos to Bolaji from FLA
for a very informative session.
Then came our second FACI for the day: Abah Anthony and
it was time for the ICE BREAKER!!!!.
2nd FACI Abah Anthony |
So we played one of our regular games
where a group of people drop a person belonging and another group goes out to
pick these belongings one by one and from there we help people get to know each
other. At the end we had about 4 ‘couples’ come out to tell us what they had
found out about each other and we had a couple of interesting things like
someone liking ‘LONG’ tennis, okro soup and anything including bread!, and a
couple of other stuffs that got the whole room rolling. Trust AIESECers to love
smashing secrets…
L-R: Nwachukwu Okwy, Ajibola-Williams Bukola |
L-R: Abah Anthony, Alli Toluwalase, Momodu Chukwuemeka |
participants for the game |
Next up was LCP Hassan Nurudeen and he came up to make a
few announcements. First Recruitment is on people. It would be a shame if we
all enjoy the benefits AIESEC gives to us and do not preach the gospel to
others. 2 sign ups so far is a big slap on our face as the giant LC of Nigeria.
We can do better people, about time we start pushing out those links. Also big
shoutout to the WECARE and Y4GG teams. Taking AIESEC and the SDGs to the next
level. We see all your efforts and AIESEC LAGOS appreciates you all. Also we
had visitors from LAUTECH come in to visit us.
how do i make these people come again next week? |
Azeez Ayotomiwa and Oyeniyi Hikmah. Delegates from AIESEC LAUTECH. |
BENEFITS OF JOINING AIESEC
So most times
when people are asked their reason for joining AIESEC majority give this simple
but often over used answer: “to develop my leadership potentials”. Now lets be
honest guys most of us don’t join for this reason and it takes the most honest
of persons to admit that they joined AIESEC in search of fine ‘babes’ and ‘guys’.
But do you know this is also a benefit of joining AIESEC and it is no crime if this is your reason for
joining as long as it isn’t your only reason. Where am I going with this?, we
had an AIESEC Lagos
alumnus in our midst at the last meeting: Mr Shola Kayode who is getting
married next month(July 1st to be precise) to another AIESECer. Oh yeah
you heard me right!. An AIESEC wedding!, made in AIESEC! for AIESEC!. My ‘owambe’
people where you at? This one is for you.
He also gave out some job opportunities to some AIESECers present at the meeting as well as sharing his AIESEC story with us also.
Mr Shola Kayode |
What is an LC Meeting without the joker himself |
when hassan hears smash!...just look at bolaji also..smh |
Meeting ended at past 5 with VP
FLA reminding people to pay
up their AIESEC dues before July 1st.
Once again big shoutout to everyone who made the
meeting. AIESEC Lagos
appreciates all of your contributions to the LC no matter how little.
Thank you and God bless.
More life.
