DAY 2 AIESEC Lagos Local Committee Conference.
Hey AIESEC!!!
This is the second day of the Local Committee Conference. This wrapped up the event and puts us in the mood for achieving this term's goals. And as usual, I'll just give my highlights of the day.
Yay!!! You are all welcome to the "end of the beginning" (or is it the other way around?). Anyways with the end of the Local Committee Conference (LCC) and the beginning of a new term, we are filled with passion and energy and clear target goals as highlighted by Rachel Bassey, our Local Committee president (LCP) at the last session of the day. You know I'm beginning to feel that some special psychologists are the ones who set up this LCC not our own Executive Board (EB), because now at the end of it all I'm feeling enough drive and passion to last me ten years. I feel re-energized, I feel driven, I feel like the flash after he was struck by lightning (nerdy jokes๐). The conference is planned so excellently I start to feel manipulated into having the one goal the LC has in mind; to transcend status quo, to in short be an AIESEC legend. For this wonderful sorcery of hypnotism by the EB, I give them a hearty congratulations for a job well done, and wish them and all of us AIESECers in Lagos good luck with the new term.
This is the second day of the Local Committee Conference. This wrapped up the event and puts us in the mood for achieving this term's goals. And as usual, I'll just give my highlights of the day.
- Firstly we kicked it off with morning Plenary and had some inspirational videos and presentation displayed. Then we had a little exercise session in form of roll calls.
- Then the first session by Mujidah was very communicative; I totally related to what she was talking about. She talked about growth and success and how they are synchronous with each other. She started with success and what it meant to succeed and I realized that in my life I have been static and apparently according to Albert Einstein I've been insane! I have been trying the same thing over and over expecting a different result. The session was quite informative and I'm sure everyone else reevaluated themselves.
- Now Rachel Bassey our very own LCP gave a session on "the art of selling". Have you ever had a place where you buy food or a particular soap you buy which you think is the best? And another of your friend has somewhere else he prefers to buy food or a different kind of soap he prefers to buy and both of you claim both of your sources are the best? Apparently there are a set of reasons why both of you think are correct which we were made to know. One of.the main reasons highlighted was acquired taste. Which means because you had that product first and were satisfied, nothing else will be able to replace it to you. This is not so in all cases though.
- Hmmnn then we had sales practical, Yay!!!(*finger rolls)It wasn't so yay for the AIESECers pretending to sell to us NON-AIESECesrs because some of us were mean, but I was nice to them though. And some of us had to sell to pretend-CEOs (OMG! Some of these CEOs weren't smiling). It was educative and thoroughly eye-opening.
- After a nice break, we had our staff Adviser Architect Adieu-moses with us whoop! Whoop! He spoke to us extensively about leadership and had us grade ourselves according to the 12 characteristics of a bad leader. While some of us ranged in the average or above average score, some of us were just so high (Ahn Ahn!). Well, we are watching them closely ๐.
- Also we had FA meetings with our VP, I've learnt more about my JD now. (I think)
- Lastly we had an LC reevaluation and goal setting session, headed by our very own LCP. Let me just say right here right now that Rachel's game-on face can quench any kind of joke in your heart, you'll just suddenly realize laughing is overrated. It was so quiet and chilly, you could hear sekie's heartbeat a mile away.I mean you just had to look at Ugo's face. She brought us up to speed with the current situation of the LC and asked for our opinion on certain matters. This session made me realize we had our work cut out for us. It also made me and I'm sure everyone else sit up properly in their chairs(figuratively). After putting us all in the mood for a funeral then within seconds she raised our spirits with just one joke. I mean she was able to make us flow with her which was just awesome (please *finger rolls*).
- Lastly I'll like to give a shout-out to two of our very own AIESECers who had their birthday on the 1st of August. Happy birthday Rebecca!!! Happy birthday Habiba!!! We had a little fun session with Rebecca and I'm sure she had fun.
