LC MEETING FOR AUGUST 5th

Hey AIESEC!

If you were at the last meeting you know we learned a lot and had fun too. However if you weren’t there, you seriously missed.

The atmosphere this week was up! As we walked in we were assigned numbers so we could pair up.

Everyone was smiling and pumped for the meeting as Hassan took over. Everyone was asked

-where they would like to go and

-Why they would like to go there

Several people mentioned Rome for its history and Egypt for its monuments. Others mentioned China and someone even said Ibadan! We found out that Hassan would also like to go to Egypt not just for the monuments but to meet an Egyptian lady he can marry. *well that’s why he is hassan*

Hassan ended by mentioning that AIESEC is our platform to reach all these places and experience their cultures. He promoted several programs that focus on Exchange like: CEED (2 weeks in a country to work and join an FA), GE (2/3 months working for which you won’t get paid), GCDP and GIP.

Guess what????  Mujidah was in the house!!!.  She was formerly the LCVP TM in AIESEC Lagos and is now MCVP TM for AIESEC Nigeria. Thumbs up Mujidah! She congratulated us on the awesome work we’ve been doing so far but pointed out that we needed to be more committed, know where we are headed in our AIESEC experience and we should stop coming LATE!.

Olaoluwa came up for the next session on Emotional Intelligence also known as Emotional Quotient (EQ)

EQ refers to the capacity to recognize one’s feelings and others as well. He pointed out that while having a high IQ was good, EQ is also very important because the more Emotionally intelligent you are, the more successful you tend to be.

What traditionalists say about emotions is that they must be controlled because they inhibit the free flow of data. Modernists however view emotions as something to be managed because they can help us build trust and increase our confidence in ourselves.

Emotions may be psychological or physiological. The physiological aspect deals with the physical output that internal emotions give. People easily notice the emotions here.

The psychological aspect is divided into Personal and Social.

Personal is divided into

-Self awareness

This involves being aware of your emotions and how your feelings affect you or being aware of your strengths and weaknesses. It also involves learning from your experience and being able to make decisions and enforce them.

-Self regulation

This involves being absolutely committed and refusing to be distracted by the red tape in any organization

-Self motivation

This involves learning how to make your motivation come from within. It focuses mainly on setting goals and seeking continual improvement.

The social aspect is divided into

-Empathy

This involves learning to put oneself into another person’s shoes.

-Relation Management

This involves learning how to manage ALL your relationships.

He ended by saying, inability to notice your feelings leaves you with an uncertainty about your life and people that have a better handle are able to pilot their lives.

After this, we had our matching game.

We were asked to learn as much as we could about our partners and were then quizzed on what we knew. Also guys we had AIESECers from Ilorin pay us a visit this Friday!!!! Awesome!

In other news, lets not forget that the #sellformschallenge is still on. As AIESECers this is a primary duty for us. it is important that we get more people to also enjoy the AIESEC Experience that we have been privileged to enjoy. So this week, make a decision to sell AIESEC to atleast one person and get them to buy a form. U just might be the catalyst they need to achieve something great.

See you guys next week. Stay on the safe side of life.
                                                                                                                                          yours truly,
                                                                                                                                            iMAC.
