LC meeting, 5th march, 2016

Hey AIESEC!!!

How are we all doing??? Okay so first things first, let me start by saying I have officially bounced Mojo off this weekly post. Yeah, you heard me, like Mojo’s tenure is over!! Just in case you are wondering who this “I” is, just look around for a boy with an afro and who is always writing down stuff at the LC meeting. Okay so back to what I'm actually here for, the last LC meeting.
It wasn’t February 14th, the date was actually march 4th,2016, but still you could feel love in the air. it wasn’t just an ordinary LC meeting. It was a love feast edition of the meeting featuring a LEAD session anchored by our esteemed MCP Daniel Elema.

See deep  connection. Love at its peak

So, meeting practically started at about 3.20pm with people trooping in in two’s (male and female) due to the love feast, also the generous ones among us brought gifts and edibles along.

Introductions were made with Miracle telling us how bad his week went and also Ufoma telling us how hers was great, the exact opposite of Miracle’s.  Afterwards, Sekinah gave a brief recap of what we did the previous week and also what she learnt. And then came the bombshell!! Apparently someone in the LC thinks Racheal our LCP is way too strict and reported her to an AIESEC head. Wow!!! I should just skip this story and keep my mouth shut (I still want to be here writing this post next week).

But racheal, strict or not, we love you!!!

We also got to play the DJSAM game again which was really fun (if you don’t know the game by now start coming for LC meetings).
Then we proceeded to the LEAD session. Before that,  Racheal quickly briefed us on what to expect in the main session that was to be taken by MCP. Among the things she said, she asked for the full meaning of LEAD and surprisingly AIESEC Lagos members had no idea. This upset our ‘said to be strict’ LCP which lead her to ask the big question “are you really getting value for the 1500 you paid to buy your AIESEC form??” (egbon Racheal, we are extremely sorry for that). Well for those of us who still do not know what LEAD means, it stands for LEARN, ENGAGE, ACTIVATE and DELIVER. It is a global program to support the leadership development of AIESECers (for more info please visit google).

After all that, came our MCP, Daniel Elema with the proper session.

Member Committee President, Daniel Elema

He talked about things that differentiate us AIESECers from people that are not AIESECers; the AIESEC experience and what it was all about from his own personal experience. He also talked about having personal values and the AIESEC values. He mentioned how the AIESEC values were there to support your own personal values. He also talked about setting goals for ourselves, both personally and AIESEC wise.

He talked to us about how we could set those goals and end up achieving them as well as the advantages of having goals. Overall, it was an enlightening and inspiring session except for one thing, that session took a year to end. It felt like uncle Daniel could just go on and on and on. (P.S: sir, for the record, not everything you hear about UNILAG students is actually true oh and if there is one thing we do not like, it’s a lecture after lectures.) All the same, it was one of the best sessions I have had in my stay in the LC.

Then came the moment we had all been waiting for, the love feast proper. Ugo our LCP elect took center stage. Everyone was asked to sit beside their parents and those without partners were given spouses. Then we were asked to turn to our partners and find out their first crush, first crush in AIESEC, things that turn on your partner, strengths and weaknesses of your partner (may God forgive Ugo especially for question 3, I’m just saying).
And then we had proposal session where random partners were brought out and made to woo each other. At the end of the day, team Peter and Dami won the contest.

Mojo and Stephanie
Peter & Dami, Idy & Zubem (I think) L-R

Miracle and Ugo also took turns to woo babes of their choice. (Only thing I learnt was that AIESEC VP posts don’t guarantee you access to babes.)

I wonder what ugo was telling her….. AIESEC values???

Isn’t your sister in the village or something????.....lol I remember that one

We had a few AOB’s and meeting closed by 6.30pm.

This officially brings me to the end of my first post but before I go, just a little word of advice from our MCP “Don’t ask a child what they want to study, ask them what they want to change”.
Do you know what you want to change and are you ready to change it??? , make sure to be a change agent this week. See you guys next week.
Yours truly,
Dami.
