MOMENTS AS AIESECers

Hey AIESEC !!!

As we all know,AIESEC is a global youth-led organization striving to achieve peace and fulfillment of humankind’s potentials by activating leadership qualities in youths through learning from practical experiences in challenging environments. Ok let's forget all the long story and talk about our moments as AIESECERS comprising of the good, bad and the ugly.

Ok let's start with our ugly moments:

  • Lets give a scenario, maybe during one of our various meetings and the LCP randomly asks someone something everyone should know as a member but the person doesn't know the answers to it. That moment can be really really embarrassing. And we can just imagine the person as a team member or worse a team leader.
  • After convincing your parents to permit you to go for maybe the exchange program or a national conference and you were allowed to go,just pray your semesters results were good. But if not, trust Nigerian parents what you will be hearing for the next few weeks is that I sent you to school to become someone great in life and not to be doing AIESEC. Trust me,this isn't a good moment at all.

Ok to the bad moments:
As we all know, life is not a bed roses so very good thing in life will have a bad side to it. You all will agree with me that we all have experienced one bad moments at one point in time.

  • Having a project to work on, coupled with school activities and all then you total forget the project given until the team leader reminds you about the deadline which then allows you to do the work under pressure and not doing it appropriately.
  • Going for exchange can be pretty interesting but when you don't have adequate info about where you going to can be really bad. Getting to the country of your choice and the LC doesn't Even know you were coming and you are stuck in the bus station, can be really bad because you would have to sleep at the bus station and when you finally leave without them in the morning, the people over there would use that as an opportunity to cheat you big time or when you get cheated at the border and you have little money for feeding and all.
  • Nigerias economy will not even help the matter 🙄🙄 because we would have to withdraw from ATMs and the money taken as bank charges was really expensive and just recently they stopped all Nigerias ATM cards from working in other countries. All these moments can be annoying in that situation.
  • When it's time for recruitment and you go from class to class to invite people to buy forms and only few people show interest to join or you are rudely interrupted by students or the lecturer enters the class and you won't be able to relay the message you want to pass across the message to them which can be pretty frustrating. Telling people all about exchange can be stressful too because just like recruitment you would have to convince a lot of people to key into your idea and when they eventually agree, different factors set in,like convincing their parents, informing DSA (and those ones have plenty trouble shaa). After all the hustles and wahala, only a few people go for the exchange. This part is so frustrating as the LC would have set a particular target concerning exchange.
GOOD MOMENTS:
I definitely can't stop without writing the wonderful moments we share as AIESECER,so let's continue:

  • The hangouts are real good memories where members would just have to put any organisation work and just have fun, play games and team members tend to bond more with the outings. I am sure we can all remember the Tarkwa bay hangout where some guys were able to set p with girls. The pizza ville hangout is always fun too. The roll call during some hangouts could be lit too. The forums and conferences be it national or international brings memories as we learn new things which tend to be educative and inspirational, meeting new people, going places and also having an edge over others in the aspect of leadership. The roll call steps learnt for the event will always be remembered once you hear the song being played anywhere, anytime.
  •  I think all newees would agree with me on this. After the interview with some smiling and other frowning faces of the EB,we were all anticipating the result to know if we actually made it. After waiting for years for a response and we just see that message that we actually entered, the relief and happiness in our hearts knows no bound.
  • The induction is also real nice as we learn a lot About AIESEC and you get to meet the other members, the executives and the new members like you.
  • The games,Doctor love,Roll call e.t.c After the stress of our various works, projects and forums, hearing your result are out could scare you, but when you see an excellent result, it makes you real happy as people who have been calling you names would keep shut and celebrate with you. This sure makes you happy as your gp has increased.
  • The beautiful moments won't be complete if we don't talk about the exchange program where people are chanced to leave their country and go to another man's land to help develop their communities. The good thing about this is that both members and non members are given the opportunity to also participate in the exchange. Apart from helping the community,we also have a lot of fun,eat things different from the ones we are used to,learn their language and play a whole lot of games. The good thing about the exchange is that it activates leadership qualities in every participant, apart from that, friends were made and they eventually became family, contacts increased and some even meet their boos and babes. And as we all say,"what happens in that country stays in that country".We even boast to our friends who have not even passed seme border that we have gone abroad at least abroad is shaa outside your country.
Those who haven't gone for exchange would never comprehend the blatant fun experienced shaa. No Matter the good, bad and ugly, the wonderful memories would forever be with us and we can boldly say that we are proud to be AIESECERS.

Once an AIESECER Always An AIESECER. I love AIESEC,do you??
