LC Meeting for 2nd September
Hey AIESEC!!!!! Hey AIESEC!!!!!!! How are we feeling!!!!!!! How are we f***ing feeling?
Today’s meeting was unusual (unique is the word). It was a change from the past meetings. Well, we know the drill, introductions were said but you had to pronounce your name spelt backwards, say what you’d do if you had a 1 day religion pass (you can do what you wouldn’t do on a normal day without consequences). Uche was the anchor for today’s meeting, drumrolls for her.
Next on the agenda was LDM-Leadership Development Model. We know that the core of our organization is Leadership. LDM explains the daily things we do to enhance people’s leadership. Leadership Development Model contains 3 elements which are:
Leadership qualities.
Inner and Outer journey.
Standards and satisfaction.
So, combining this 3 elements together, we can say that “by delivering standards and satisfaction, AIESEC facilitates the inner and outer journey of leadership qualities of young people”. What are Standards and Satisfaction? Standards and satisfaction is divided into 2, that is,
For team experience, which has 16 subdivisions,
For exchange experience, which has 6 subdivisions.
Standards and satisfaction for team experience are as follows:
Team: This has to do with the goals and visions of the team. Every team must have a team goal which all team members must work towards, and there should be some form of togetherness.
Plan: How can these goals be achieved. Every team has to answer this once their goals have been identified. A detailed plan of how their goals can be achieved, have to be set/planned out.
JD: A job description then emanates from the plan, specifying what each member is to do.
Functional Training: Everyone in the team could be connected to the team goals and visions, even know what they’re supposed to do but how many know how to go about it. Functional training helps them gain knowledge on how to perform excellently on their tasks.
Evaluations and Monitoring: Everyone is responsible for tracking. Evaluations and monitoring’s involves finding out if each person’s task has been done, and if the work flow is going smoothly.
Leadership Development Spaces: This involves members taking up roles like TL, MLM, etc. to better develop themselves and others.
Inner and Outer Journey of Leadership. We have Inner and Outer being the key points here. Outer Journey: This includes individual responsibility and roles, Interaction with multiple stake holders and Challenging environment. Here’s a quote for us which says that “YOU DON’T DEVELOP YOURSELF UNTIL YOU CHALLENGE YOURSELF”. Outer journey is also being facilitated by standards and satisfactions. Inner Journey: Inner journey has to do with what a leader has to do, how the leader reflects on him/herself to see if his/hers personal goals are being attained, and if not, if proper understanding of the personal role is understood.
After identifying the problems in the world, it still boils down to leadership. So AIESEC has identified this and broken them down into 4:
Self-awareness,
Solution oriented,
World citizen,
Empowering others.
Food For The Thought; AIESEC provides different platforms through which we can better ourselves (we are to think about those platforms), how then do we make good use of it.
ICE-BREAKER!!! Yay!!!! So we were divided into 4 groups, groups 1&2 were to each act a play on a typical Nigerian setting where a traveller has his bags checked by custom officers, and unusual (contraband) stuffs were found. Groups 3&4, were to each act on a play in a typical Nigerian setting, where a guy breaks up with a girl and during the confrontation, her brother works in. Each play was to be judged by the rest of the crowd. It was a fun and exciting time
Moving on, we had a little French session, where our interns (Abraham being the volunteer) thought us French and a song was also taught (the song has deep touching meanings), but the session was cool.
That’s all that happened in the meeting, Stay awesome guys!!.
