HOW TO SERIES e01
Hey AIESEC!!!
Hope we are feeling good???.
Welcome to the first episode of the “HOW TO SERIES”... A
collaboration brought to you by MAC and TM (yea we are bad like that, you know
we are the most innovative functional areas In AIESEC) smiles, so before you grumble
every FA in AIESEC is great.
This week we are going to be exposing us to that area that
differentiates AIESEC from every other youth organization. Yes im talking about
one of, if not the most important AIESEC product: EXCHANGE!!!...
SO LET TALK ABOUT HOW TO ENJOY YOUR EXCHANGE EXPERIENCE LIKE
A BOSS.
In order to prepare something enjoyable and practical for us
all, we sent out messages to AIESECers who have gone on exchange and we got a
few responses from which we gathered a few tips shared bellow:
Exchange is one of the best thing that could ever happen to
you and for you to enjoy this experience some things are meant to be considered:
1. Make enquiries about the country you want to go to, and
the particular place you will be staying.
2. Make sure your travelling documents are complete, and you
are not leaving anything behind.
3. Money: you should have at the back of your mind that if
you don't have enough, then you might not really enjoy it, you must consider
the exchange rate, because at some point the unstable exchange rate might affect
you. You must also bear in mind that you will be needing money to pay for
transportation wherever you are in that country, money for feeding,
accommodation (that is if accommodation is not free). Your desired projects
will definitely require funding, so it should not be left out. You will
definitely be going out over there (like going to see a movie) money for things
like this should also be in your budget.
4. Stuffs to take along: I guess for every country you are
allowed to take food stuffs. For instance going by road to some countries, you
can take different kind of food stuff if I am not mistakenbut for countries
were you travel by air, some of them have reservations on what you can take
into their country (for instance America
doesn't allow importation of chicken products).
5. Packing enough clothes is essential (casual wears, formal
wears, swimming outfit, don't forget your native wears too). Toiletries are
important too. You might as well go with your personal cutlery, cup and plate
if you want to.
6. Going with a laptop and/or camera would be really nice
(obviouslyyyy!!).
7. Take your project work seriously. Be dedicated. You might
win an award if you work diligently (don't be carried away by the fun). I did
not win any award sha.
So these are some things you need to take into consideration
to enjoy your exchange experience like a boss.
Most especially if you really want to have this amazing
experience you must make everyone going with you or people you meet there feel
your impact, make every moment with them memorable. Cherish every moment you get
to be together, make yourself very active because spending 6 weeks with your
friends or people you don't know will create strong bond which can never be
broken, and also impact your life negatively or positively. I am talking from
experience . Trust me you will never regret going on exchange. Going on
exchange was a life changing experience.
Don't forget to take ENOUGH PICTURES AND MAKE A LOT OF VIDEOS!
