LC meeting 18th September 2015
Hey AIESEC!!!
How are we feeling???
Hope we're feeling gingered for NTS because the first people I saw at the last meeting were two AIESECers from Kano! (whoop whoop). I'm ready to roll dunno about y'all. Anyways the meeting went on a bit slower than usual. Attendance was low at first, spirits were so low...
But then... Yomi had a few games up his sleeve, Rachel had a few guest speakers up HER sleeve and it turns out people were just slow in getting to the venue! With a few games underway, we had Dare doing push-ups and Aisha (our guest from Kano) spelling AIESEC with her butt!!!
So, after the laughs and the guffaws we got right down to it. Jubril Jumah ex-LCP AIESEC Calabar, ex-MCVP BD came up to share his AIESEC experience with us. He had a really wonderful story about his time and life in AIESEC and how it had moved his life forward (I'm not about to recount it, next time, don't miss meeting :) ) From his narrative I learnt two things. Firstly he affirmed what I always told myself; "anybody can be convinced of (i.e made to believe, made to do or made to become) anything at anytime, all it takes is the right situation (the right person, the right time, the right conditions etc). He went from being a non-active 8 month ghost member to being MCVP. How ironic is that? Secondly I learnt that (which is something we all know but never really know) you just can't leave ANYBODY to do something that moves you forward on your behalf. You gotta do it yourself. If it's for you then it should be done by you. Nobody will do it for you.

Also, AIESEC Lagos's favorite Tolu Taiwo was in the house. He's ex- so many things, but apparently he doesn't like appellations to his name. He's Tolu Taiwo and would like to remain Tolu Taiwo. He made mention of a few things; I'll talk about one which stuck to me. He says he didn't like appellations because it tends to create the false image that the person with whatever title is the only leader around. He says " in AIESEC, we are all leaders, but there just happens to be few leadership positions " which is quite cool. So, you guys are leaders, so think like a leader. Be responsible for your environment. Think like you're the only one around to fix that problem you're noticing. If all of us could think that way, the world will be a better place.
News and updates in the LC
- The national training seminar starts officially next week. For those who have been doubting as to if they should go or not....hmmm this is an AIESEC conference. Coming to Lagos. The last time this happened was '09! If for nothing, do not miss sharing this historic conference with your fellow LC members. Let's all turn up and show them how we Lagos members do it. If you haven't registered. The link is still open. It's just a very small 6,000 naira for your payment fee. Tell me what hotel would lodge you for a week and also feed you with that meagre amount. So guys! This is it. This is AIESEC Lagos. If you haven't paid, banks go off tomorrow cos of the breaks and all. Time is running out guys.
- Also Kaspersky sales continue this week and will close very soon. You can find them at Mariere, new hall and Education from 3pm to 7pm everyday.
- Also recruitment has officially ended, we will be lifting the veil of our new members very soon. Anticipate LTS.
Mojolaoluwa.
