MY NTS 2016 EXPERIENCE

Hey AIESEC!!! My name is Hakeem. I’m really excited about my experience in Ibadan and I’d love to share my National conference story on this space with you guys. Basically, my experience was an unforgettable and overwhelming one. I had a very fun time with AIESECers from different LC’s around the country and also some from other countries that were with us.
The seminar was held in Ibadan, Oyo state at Glory view hotel and it ran for five days. Each day was filled with new presentations on AIESEC-related stuff and fun activities of course…LOL. I mean if there’s no Dr Love, smash wall and gossips, then an AIESEC conference is incomplete yeah? My key learnings out of all the presentations include the SDG’s and their importance, the new AIESEC products, the talk on limitless generation and the talk on growing disruptively. I got to meet the MCVP’s and the MCP himself, James Akume. The former MCP, Daniel Elema was also present on one of the days to give a presentation. He spoke about a lot of stuff concerning his AIESEC experience so far with emphasis on the 15/16 term. The MC were all amazing during the conference, and I’m still blown away by those two hot and pretty female MCVP’s.Oh well…moving on....
On the first day we got there, which was a Sunday, Mojola and I volunteered to handle the DJ and presentation slides respectively. We were always hands-on on stage and this affected our chances to socialise with others in the crowd slightly. I don’t regret it at all because I learnt one or two things and it felt good to be organising things for the benefit of the conference. There were certain times that we had to move the whole setup including the heavy speakers, projectors, projecting screen, the disc jockey and wires to a different hall….whew! it was pretty hectic I must say. This came with advantages of course…LOL. Girls used to show us love big time. We were hardly alone during breaks…LOL. We never queued for meals, and we were popular. Well, I guess that’s what you get for handling stuff…LOL. We also had various roll call dancing sessions every day and this was a major highlight of the conference. We had a karaoke night on one of the days…and that night was awesome. I sang thrice actually that night. I was really pumped up…whoop whoop!! On the last night, I met a girl, well, through enjoying participation…Lmao. She left a lasting impression on me and this was another MAJOR highlight of my conference. We all had a very emotional session with the MC on the last night which really got to me. After this session, everyone hugged one and other and it was really emotional and exciting. We danced and partied all night after the session, then we left the next morning to Lagos.
If I say I wasn’t sad on the day we were leaving Ibadan, my nose will probably grow longer. It reminded me a lot about how I felt when I was leaving Ghana after my exchange program in December of 2014. I made friends and I will forever miss them. I thought a lot about how I almost missed this conference because of my IT which I am currently on. Saying it was highly worth it is an understatement. What an AIESEC conference or AIESEC exchange does to you is irreplaceable, and I’m very happy to have experienced both of them. I want to say a big thank you to the MC and all AIESECers that came for the seminar. A special thanks goes to a darling (my darling?) who was also our, LOD for the conference, Eniola Akinoso. She exhibited true leadership and focus throughout the seminar. And the most awesome AIESECer and LCP, Ugo Modum, thank you very much for everything. I have pictures below for your viewing cravings…hehe
