WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

Hey AIESEC!!!

How are we feeling?
I trust our week has been cool. I also trust that we have been sufficiently well acquainted with the new EB team.
Firstly before I go on to update us with what is going on in the LC and beyond as will be my custom weekly, I would like to formally launch our blog as being back into operational; whoop!! Whoop!! Also I want to describe a structure which our newsletter would take consequently. Like every good news report, it shall contain sections; main section which would definitely have a brief summary of the previous meeting (with lots of comments from me :) ) and links to any applications available for conferences and posts. From next week most likely, before I give a heavily commented upon summary, minutes of the meeting will be included(most likely). Also little updates on what is going on with AIESEC Nigeria and AIESEC International will be dropped(If any). Now that we are all acquainted with the structure let's go on to the main business of the day.

LC Meeting 24th, July 2015

Yes! It's a new term; AIESEC Lagos 2015/2016. We have a new EB team, we have new structures and ideas in place, and we have goals to be achieved, quotas to be met and dreams to be fulfilled. Today was the first meeting of the term and it got on to a healthy start (*winks*). It was healthy especially for us who came early. You could hear Simi huffing and puffing as you got closer to the caravan. If one looked at Mujidah's (our new VP TM) positive and weirdly content face as she lifted that "light" looking piece of metal to set up the canopy, one might think lifting heavy objects is the one true way to attain peace of mind. But then again, she's a VP. She's the personification of ideal optimism.
SO, Mujidah Sakibu gave us a hearty welcome back and we all introduced ourselves and commented on our holiday breaks. Let me just say; apparently some of us were meeting boys, some of us needed the fasting, and we have a cyclist among us (hmmnn!).
Moving on, our new LCP Rachel Bassey gave us an introductory speech and finally introduced us to the new EB team! Those who will be "serving us". "Leadership is all about service" Rachel said as they boldly stepped out for us to see. And they are ;(*drumrolls*)
1.       Yomi Adenekan - VP MaC

2.       Miracle Chukwu - VP OGIP

3.       Ugochukwu Modum - VP OGCDP

4.       Mujidah Sakibu - VP TM

5.       Olumide Abejide - VP Fin& LA

6.       Nnoye Oswagu - VP BD & IGIP

7.       Sandra Adeniran - VP IGCDP

8. Rachel Bassey - LCP

Apparently they all have wonderful plans for us; we have interns coming in mid-August, we have a new caravan coming in too (YES! *fist pumps*). I heard an awesome deal with Kaspersky which I am personally looking forward to. Also we were made aware of the intern buddy fun role we could take up. Rachel closed it up with a remarkable speech of self-re-evaluation. She said and I quote "... I think that it's really important that for us as individuals to start asking ourselves basic questions; why am I here? Why am I in AIESEC? Why am I in this world? What do my friends think of me? What do I think of myself? ... What can I point to as my achievement in AIESEC?” Now that’s a food for thought and I shall fill myself up.

We went on to another wonderful section of the meeting, mujidah spoke to us on a lot of topics that center around increasing of one's abilities. She asked us questions on failure, on what it means to focus, on what makes us to take action and on how we see our self-worth to the society. She then went on to give us snippets of advice to help us with whatever our situation to the above answers were. We were eventually asked to move into our respective functional areas for a revision and a plan to take on the new term. This went on for 15 minutes at which point the functional areas broke up and reformed the LC.
To make the day even better than it already had been, guess who showed up? (*drumrolls*) Someone from the MC our LC coach - Esther!! SO she made us aware of the good work the immediate Ex EB team did and our splendid position in the entity. She also reminded us not to rest on our oars as we still have a lot to accomplish. Watching Esther speak to us with such passion and love for our LC and AIESEC itself made me want to feel what she felt for AIESEC. It also made me realize this new AIESEC term shall be all the more, very awesome. She promised us more of her presence and that we were going to learn a lot with her. Lastly we went on to roll calls (whoop!! whoop!!). Wow let me just say as much as this new EB team likes to work, they certainly like roll calls too. Some of us though who claim to not be too familiar with roll calls needed to watch someone's steps. They chose to watch the LCP,and Esther which was fine and made sense totally. Though why they watched them from behind or why they chose to only watch the females, I don't know. I mean, they could have watched Ugo(VP OGCDP and roll call lord)  but it seems behind Rachel and Esther is much more instructive :) (*okay oh).

So that brought the meeting to a close and the term to a wonderful start. I myself am insanely inspired and most motivated to give it my all this term, I hope you are too. Good day and have a wonderful week ahead of you.
